The great power glide dipstick repair.
It seems a good used one was not forthcoming so I went looking for the broken piece. Sure enough it was stuck in the bottom of the tube. Inside the pan looked pristine so the dipstick repair went ahead. Click on the images for a larger view.

The stick is broken in two, the old part was stuck in the tube

The parts are lined up for repair

A spot of brass is applied

The back side appears to be OK

Time to remove the dents and make up a new gasket. I cannot wait for two weeks for a new one.

Gasket is cut from one eighth cork and set in place

Holes are punched and it is ready to re install
